Biography

He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, Turkey in 2011 with a comprehensive scholarship from the university. He was also granted Outstanding Success fellowships given separately by the Turkish Prime Ministry, Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), Aegean Modern Education Foundation (ECEV), etc. He was selected for the Golden Youth Award by the Isbank and finished his B.Sc. degree as one of the Top Students.

He was offered a gradute-level scholarship by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK) in 2011. In 2013, he received his M.Sc. degree from Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany in Communications Systems under the MSCE program with comprehensive scholarships from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and TEV. He worked at Intel Mobile Communications GmbH in Munich, Germany as a working student on "Interference Mitigation for Asynchronous Networks in LTE-Advanced for the Link Layer". He was granted an Academic Award for the Top M.Sc. Students by the MSCE program.

He is a member of the Chair of Communications Engineering as a research and teaching assistant since 2014. He was a finalist in the Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship in 2014 with his privacy-preserving algorithm designs. He won the 1st prize in the competition ''Hands-On Project Digital Society'' in 2014 with a project entitled "Profit optimization through enterprise collaboration using digital media" generously sponsored by the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation, DAAD, German Centre for International Migration (CIM), and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). His research was funded by the Alexander-von-Humboldt Professorship for about 27 months. He was later funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) with a focus on information-theoretic privacy and security. He organized the 2017 Munich Workshop on Physical Unclonable Functions. He was visiting the  Information and Communication Theory (ICT) Lab at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), The Netherlands during February-March 2018 with the generous support via the TU/e RESCURE project.

Onur has successfully defended his dissertation, entitled "Key Agreement with Physical Unclonable Functions and Biometric Identifiers", on November 26, 2018 to his Dr.-Exam committee: Profs. Georg Sigl (TUM), Gerhard Kramer (TUM), Frans Willems (TU/e), and Amin Gohari (Sharif University of Technology, Iran).

He was a freelance lecturer at TUM-Asia in Singapore to teach the lecture Communication Engineering on digital communications within February 2019.

He was funded by the DFG with a focus on information-theoretic security for his short post-doctoral studies at TUM.

Onur is now a postdoc at TU Berlin in the Chair of Information Theory and Applications funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on the topic of secure identification! He can be contacted via guenlue@tu-berlin.de.

He is organizing the tutorial on Key Agreement and Secure Identification with Physical Unclonable Functions for the IEEE Workshop on Information Forensics and Security 2019, Delft, The Netherlands together with Prof. Rafael F. Schaefer.
